Choosing a title

Deciding the title for my trailer is also very important as this is one of the main things that the audience will see straight away, it needs to be clear what the film is roughly about and what genre the film is.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2008/apr/05/3

This article has helped me understand the necessary things in making a good film title and I will use the techniques and advice he has put forward in order to help me with mine.

Explorer

This is one of my options for the trailer title, this is good because it is very short, snappy and to the point which I feel is good for film titles. It also highlights what the film is about but doesn't give too much away as the audience are unaware of what he is exploring so leaves them wanting more. The bad thing about this is that it is quite hard to know that this is the horror genre.

Appuldurcombe

This title is good because it is straight to the point as this is the place that he is exploring in the story. It also sounds like quite an old manor type house which informs the audience of what its about. In addition to this is doesn't give too much away which is good as the audience will be left wanting more. Also when coming to my poster it will suit my idea for this. The negatives are that only people from the Isle of Wight will know Appuldurcombe which does restrict my target audience although it is mainly aimed at people from the Island anyway.

Millward's Haunted Adventure

This film title is good as it clearly highlights the genre of the film, whereas the other do not really do this. In addition to this it distinctly shows what the film is about but doesn't give too much away. The bad things about it is it a bit too descriptive and I feel it suits more of a book then a film.

In summary, after analysing these I feel that Appuldurcombe is the best option for the film title. This is mainly because it clearly shows the audience where film is, but leaves out the element of horror which can be clearly shown through the poster of the film. It is also very short and snappy which I feel makes the best kind of title as it is to the point and is also very unique as this location has obviously never been used for a film before.

Equipment for filiming

Camera - Panasonic G7

Image result for panasonic g7
This is the main camera I am using for my production and it is my friends camera who has taught me the correct way to use it. It films in 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps, allowing me to film in the same quality as real films which will give it that realistic and professional touch. This is very light in weight and easy to use.

GoPro Hero Silver 4

Image result for gopro silver hero 4This is going to be used as the second camera for any POV shots that I use in filming. This is also very light but there are quite a lot of complications with GoPros that I will need to overcome. It also provides very good filming with the quality being 4K 24fps.

Rode VideoMicro

This is a microphone that is added to the main camera to highly enhance the quality of the sound. This will add a very professional feel to the production as it also has a deadcat on it that silences out background noise such as wind.

Neewer High Power Light Panel

This attaches to the top of the main camera and is very useful as it has a variety of light possibilities and this is essential to my production as the majority of the trailer will be filmed in the dark so this light is a necessity. Despite this it is quite heavy which could affect filming but it is so important to have that this risk needs to be taken.

Joby SLR Gorilla Pod

This is good as it provides more grip when using the main camera and allows shots to be much smoother, this is not as important as the other equipment because I could easily go without it and it will only be used for a short amount of the filming as most of it is hand-held.

GoPro Head Strap

This is what goes on the actor or camera man's head to get POV shots, this is as important as the GoPro as without it, it would be impossible to get a smooth filming of POV shots

Other locations

Ryde Academy theatre

This location is going to be used for when Jack collects his award. This location is good because it suits the scene well, and also as we are students at the school we can alter things like the lighting, using the curtains, acquiring a teacher to be the presenter and using a podium to make it more realistic.

This location is going to be used as one of the scenes for the short jump cuts of his career to date, this location is good because it is a dark forest which clearly suits the horror genre well. It is also a public place which doesn't require permission and can be accessed at night which follows forms and conventions of horror genre.

Jack's car will be used for showing us arriving at the locations and him introducing the video. This is good because it makes it more realistic as we do not just cut to be in the locations straight away. It is good because it suits exploring videos, as the film will be the raw footage of the haunted documentary type video.

Havenstreet Bomb Shelter

This location is going to be used to show us trying to get into the bomb shelter but being forcefully stopped by something paranormal. This is a good location because it suits the plot of the story and shows the haunted things that Jack has encountered through his career.

Possible locations for main part

Here I will be discussing the positives and negatives of each location, this will be the main part of the story so this location needs to be the best one possible
